Confirmation at St Mary’s

Confirmation Service in Frittenden Church         Sunday 23rd September 2018

This year, St Mary’s Church Frittenden has the honour of hosting the annual Deanery Confirmation service.    It will take place in the Church at 3.00 pm on Sunday 23rd September 2018.  This will be an important occasion for our church, when the Bishop of Dover is coming to take the service and confirm the candidates, who are usually a mixture of adults and young people.   As we are hosting this service for Weald Deanery, Bishop Trevor will also confirm people here from a number of other local churches, including Sissinghurst, Goudhurst, Benenden and Cranbrook.

For people of any age, being confirmed is a very important milestone in our journey of faith.  To have that take place in your home church makes it even more special.  If there is anyone in the Parish who would like to explore their faith further then this might also be a good opportunity to do so.

We hope to run a short course of 5 or 6 sessions, at a mutually convenient  time for those taking part, in which we can explore together important issues of faith and also look into any questions people may have.  At the end of the course, people are free to decide whether or not they wish to put themselves forward to be confirmed here by the Bishop on 23rd September.

If anyone wishes to consider being confirmed here in September, please let me know by phone, letter, email or in person, by the end of March 2018.  I am also very happy to discuss with you any questions you may have about this process.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

Rev Fred Olney (Rector of Sissinghurst with Frittenden)
